Behaviour

The school's behaviour record: what teachers have logged, what is still open, and what needs a decision from you.

The counters

  • Open incidents — logged but not yet closed.
  • High severity — the subset that needs attention first.
  • Concerns this week and Praise this week — the balance matters more than either alone. A week of concerns with no praise usually says more about what is being recorded than about the students.

The list

Each incident shows the student, category, severity, the teacher who logged it and its status. Filter by status to work through open items, or by grade to follow a year group.

The table above the list breaks categories down by grade, which is where a pattern shows: one category concentrated in one grade is usually a specific class or teacher issue rather than a school-wide one.

Opening an incident

The detail page carries the description, who logged it, when, and any follow-up notes. Three actions:

  • Mark reviewed — acknowledged; not yet resolved.
  • Resolve — closed, with your note recorded.
  • Reopen — for anything closed prematurely.

Message parent opens the bulletin composer with that student's parents already selected. It is not a private message — the parent receives it as a school bulletin from you.

Logging an incident

Teachers and principals can both log one: pick the student, a category, a severity, and describe what happened. Descriptions are read by people, not scored — write what a colleague who wasn't there would need to know.

Which states are which

  • No incidents logged yet — the school has a clean record, or nobody is using the log.
  • No incidents match — filters are excluding everything.
  • No incidents logged for your students — shown on the teacher home screen when a class has none.
  • Couldn't load incidents — the request failed; refresh.

Note

The behaviour log is record-keeping, not workflow automation. Nothing is emailed, and no escalation happens automatically — a high-severity incident waits until someone opens this screen. Treat the counter on Home as your reminder.
