Tools, Insights and the Timeline
Three things frame the lesson window. They are not separate features — they are how you move around and how ASAI shows you where you are. All three appear in Learn by Chat, Learn by Teach and Learn by Click.
Before you start: the sidebar and Insight values both read your dashboard selection — Step 1 Curriculum through Step 4 Topic.
Tools
Tools sits in the top bar of the lesson window. Clicking it opens the Study Tools panel over the conversation, so you never lose the lesson you are in.
It lists every study tool available to you under AVAILABLE:
Asai Draw · Cornell Notes · Eisenhower Matrix · Flashcards · Graph · Kanban Board · Past Papers · Mindmap · Leitner System
These are the same tools the Dashboard exposes under Steps 1–5 — the panel is a shortcut, not a second set. Close it and you are back in the conversation where you left off.
Insights
Insights opens a Curriculum Insights panel down the right side. It describes your current state in this topic — where you are, what you have covered, and what is left. It updates as the lesson moves, so treat it as a dashboard for this one topic rather than a summary of your account.
Header — the subject and its level: SUBJECT / Biology / IGCSE.
Three counts sit under it. On a freshly started Biology lesson they read:
| Count | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 3 Total Concepts | how many concepts this topic is broken into |
| 0 Completed | how many of those ASAI has finished teaching you |
| 8 Syllabus Objectives | the numbered objectives the topic is examined against |
Completed stays at zero until a concept is actually mastered, so a lesson that has just begun correctly shows none.
Now Teaching names the concept you are on — #1 Characteristics of living organisms, with its syllabus reference Syllabus 1.1 beside it. Underneath, Lesson stage tells you where inside that concept you are, for example Core Concept Explanation and 2 of 5 — the second of five stages ASAI walks through before the concept is done.
Upcoming lists the concepts still ahead, in order — here 1 Concept and uses of classification systems and 2 Features of organisms — so you can see the shape of the whole topic, not just the paragraph you are reading.
Syllabus Objectives shows the exam wording itself, one line per point, each tagged CORE. For Biology topic 1.1 that is the seven MRS GREN statements: (a) movement, (b) respiration, (c) sensitivity, (d) growth, (e) reproduction, (f) excretion, (g) nutrition. These are the actual objectives your exam is written against, which is why they sit in the panel rather than being paraphrased.
Where a topic has no syllabus mapping the third count becomes Concepts Left instead, and the objectives list is omitted. In Learn by Teach the panel also carries an amber role badge, because there ASAI is the student and you are the teacher — the progress belongs to you either way.
The timeline
Two different timelines appear, and they answer different questions.
Above the input — where you are in the topic. A horizontal row of dots, one per subtopic, with the ASAI logo riding at the one you are currently on. A dot that is filled in has been mastered, the highlighted one is the current subtopic, and the rest are upcoming. Hover any dot to see its number and title, for example 1.1 — Characteristics of living organisms. As you finish a subtopic the logo slides to the next dot.
This form only appears once a curriculum context is active — again, the dashboard selection.
On the right edge — where you are in the conversation. A vertical stack of small ticks, one per message. Your own messages are marked differently from ASAI's, and the tick for the message you are currently reading is highlighted. Hover a tick to preview that message — it shows YOU or ASAI, the time, and the start of what was said. Click a tick to jump straight to that message.
Use the dots to navigate the syllabus, and the ticks to navigate the chat.
