Before you start: this tool reads your dashboard selection — Step 1 Curriculum, Step 2 Subject, Step 3 Chapter, Step 4 Topic. Choose all four on the Dashboard first. With nothing selected the screen opens empty, and that is expected, not a fault.

Learn by Teach

Learn by Teach flips the roles: you explain the topic, and ASAI plays the student. If you cannot make it clear, you do not know it yet — which is the point.

Where to find it

Dashboard → Step 2 · Understand your Topic → Learn by Teach.

The window header reads You Teach rather than Teach Me, so you can always tell which hat you are wearing.

How a session starts

You do not write the opening line. The moment the window opens, ASAI sends it for you:

I want to teach you about Characteristics of living organisms.

It then answers as a curious student and asks its first question, for example:

That sounds like an interesting topic! I'm ready to learn. Can you explain what characteristics all living organisms share?

So the conversation begins as a real lesson, not a blank box you have to start yourself.

How it works

  1. Pick the topic on the Dashboard as usual.
  2. Open Learn by Teach and read ASAI's opening question.
  3. Explain the answer in your own words — the input reads "Explain a concept to Asai."
  4. ASAI keeps playing the student: asking for clarification, questioning the parts you skipped, and sometimes misunderstanding on purpose so you have to correct it.
  5. Keep going until ASAI signals the lesson is complete. A Continue to Next Topic button then moves you on.

Sessions are saved to History with "(You Teach)" after the topic name, so they are easy to tell apart from an ordinary lesson — for example Biology · Characteristics of living organisms (You Teach).

What you see on screen

  • Tools and Insights in the top-right corner, the same two panels as every other lesson — see Tools, Insights and the Timeline. In Insights your role is shown with an amber badge, because you are the teacher here.
  • The timeline above the input — one dot per subtopic, so you can see how far through the chapter this topic sits.
  • Your messages on the right, ASAI's questions on the left, as in any chat.

Why it is worth using

Explaining is the strongest test of understanding. Reading feels like knowledge and can hide a gap; having to answer a follow-up question exposes it immediately. Use this after Learn by Chat or Textbook has given you the material.

Tips

  • Start with the definition, then the example, then the exception — that structure forces you to be complete.
  • If ASAI asks something you cannot answer, stop and go back to the Textbook; that gap is exactly what would cost marks.
  • Do not read your notes aloud verbatim; paraphrase, because ASAI will probe the wording.
  • Learn by Chat — ASAI teaches you instead.
  • Learn by Click — guided questions and worked feedback.
