Getting Started
This guide is for students using ASAI for the first time. It covers what you see when you sign in, how the five areas fit together, and what to do in your first session.
Drafted 21 October 2026 by walking the live student app (localhost:3000). Screens and labels were read from the running product, not written from memory — but this is a first draft covering the entry points only.
Signing in
Sign in with the email and password your school gave you. If your school invited you to a class, the invitation appears as a notification after you sign in.
If you cannot sign in, your school administrator controls your account — contact them rather than registering again, as a second account will not have your classes attached.
The five areas
After signing in you land on Home. Down the left side you have:
- Journey — your overall progress through each subject
- Classroom — the classes your teachers have added you to
- Hive — collaborative and shared activity
- Mini Games — short practice activities
Home also shows a History section of your recent activity, so you can pick up where you left off.
Searching
Press Ctrl + K anywhere in the app to search for a topic, chapter or subject. It is usually faster than navigating through the sidebar.
The Journey
Journey is the spine of the product. Each subject moves through five levels:
- Foundations — let's get going
- Understanding — how things work
- Application — fine tune the details
- Precision — know it inside out
- Mastery — master it by memory
Each level shows a percentage for that stage. Everyone starts at 0% on a new subject, and the percentages rise as you work through topics. A level showing 0% is not a problem — it means you have not studied that stage yet.
Working through a topic
Open a topic and you get several ways to study it. Pick whichever suits how you learn:
- Read the Topic — the written material
- Understand your Topic — guided explanation
- Learn in your style with AI — an AI-led session that adapts to you
- Test your understanding — questions on what you have covered
- Memorize — retention techniques to make it stick
You do not need to do all of them, or do them in order.
Your first session
A sensible first session:
- Open Journey and pick the subject you are currently studying at school.
- Work through one topic using Read the Topic.
- Finish with Test your understanding on that same topic.
- Return to Home — your progress and study history now have something in them.
Starting with one topic end to end gives you a real picture of how the product works, rather than sampling every area on day one.
