Flashcards

Before you start: this tool reads your dashboard selection — Step 1 Curriculum, Step 2 Subject, Step 3 Chapter, Step 4 Topic. Choose all four on the Dashboard first. With nothing selected the tool opens empty, which is expected, not a fault.

Flashcards is Step 3 of the study path — Challenge Yourself. A deck is a stack of question-and-answer cards generated from your selected topic, so you test recall rather than re-reading.

Open it from Dashboard → Step 3 · Challenge Yourself → Flashcards. The header reads Flashcards with the subject beside it, for example Flashcards: Biology.

Generating a deck

The first screen offers one action: Generate flashcards. That opens a form with four fields.

FieldNotes
SubjectAlready filled from your dashboard selection
Chapter (optional)Defaults to the chapter you picked, e.g. 1. Characteristics and classification of living organisms
Topic (optional)Defaults to your topic, e.g. Characteristics of living organisms
Number of Flashcards5, 10, 15 or 20

The button at the bottom repeats your count, for example Generate 10 Cards. Leave chapter and topic blank to cover the whole chapter instead of a single topic — that is how you revise broadly before an exam.

Studying a deck

Once generated, the deck opens as a stack of cards.

  • The counter tells you where you are: Card 1 of 10.
  • The front shows the question under a QUESTION label.
  • Flip Card turns it over to the answer and its mnemonic.
  • Arrow keys move between cards without leaving the study screen.
  • The round Asai button floats over the card, so you can ask about a card mid-deck.

Working through a deck is deliberately low-friction: flip, read, move on. It is a recall check, not a graded test — nothing here counts towards your mastery score. Use Quiz when you want the answer to be marked.

When it will not generate

If the topic has no source material to draw from, generation returns an empty or failed deck rather than inventing cards. Pick a different chapter or topic on the Dashboard and try again.
