The Sidebar

The sidebar is the dark column down the left of every screen. It is the map of the app: the top half takes you to the five main areas, and the bottom half is everything you have ever chatted about.

It never disappears. Collapse it if you want more room for your work.

1. The five main areas

These are always in the same order.

Home Your dashboard — the learning journey levels, the curriculum dropdowns and the five study steps. This is where you land after signing in.

Journey Your study roadmap for a subject, built day by day from your curriculum. If you have not built one yet, it offers Create my roadmap.

Classroom Your enrolled classes, quizzes and past papers. This is a student's view — teachers and administrators see a different, larger set of pages under the same name.

Hive A community area. Depending on how your school's deployment is configured this item may be greyed out and show "Hive is coming soon" when you hover it.

Mini Games Games for practising what you are learning. Like Hive, this can be greyed out with "Mini Games is coming soon" depending on the deployment.

Greyed-out items are not broken

Hive and Mini Games are switched on per deployment. A greyed-out item means the feature is turned off for your school, not that your account is missing something.

The area you are currently in is highlighted, so you can always see where you are.

2. Pinned

Conversations you have pinned for quick access.

This section only appears once you pin at least one chat — an empty Pinned section is never shown. Pin something and it stays at the top of the list, above History.

3. Archive

Chats you have archived to get them out of the way without deleting them.

Also hidden until you archive something. Archiving keeps the conversation and its content; it just moves it out of your normal History list. You can unarchive a chat at any time from its own menu.

4. History

Every conversation you have had, newest first, grouped by age:

  • LAST 7 DAYS
  • THIS MONTH
  • OLDER

Each entry shows the conversation's title. Hover an entry and you get a small menu:

ActionWhat it does
ShareCreates a shareable link for that conversation
RenameEdits the conversation's title
Pin / UnpinMoves it into (or out of) the Pinned section
Archive / UnarchiveHides it from History without deleting it
DeleteRemoves the conversation permanently

History has three other states you may run into:

  • Not signed in — it reads "Log in to see your chat history". History is loaded per account, so it stays empty until you sign in.
  • Loading — grey placeholder rows appear while your conversations are fetched.
  • Empty — "No conversations yet", on a brand-new account.

5. What happens when the sidebar is collapsed

Press the collapse button (the arrow beside the logo at the top) and the sidebar shrinks to a narrow strip of icons. Collapsing does not hide anything permanently:

  • Hovering a section opens a flyout panel showing up to ten of your most recent conversations in that section.
  • At the bottom of that flyout is Search chats, which opens the full search dialog.

Press the same button again to expand it back.

Where to next

If you are new, start with the Dashboard and work down the study steps in order.
